Google & NAR's Study on Digital Home Buying - Maine Real Estate ...
Google?and the?National Association of Realtors?(NAR) collaborated on a?study?looking at the digital usage of today?s home buyer. The study found that buyers are relying more and more on the Internet as they search for good real estate information:
?Nine in 10 home buyers today rely on the internet as one of their primary research sources, and 52 percent turn to the web as their first step.?

San Francisco:?With reference to an announcement recently announced by Microsoft, Microsoft has finally declared to discontinue their very well known world wide used Messenger on March 15th and are going to go with a latest alternate application with the name as Skype (an internet based telephony technology ?Skype? was first released in 2003 written by Estonian developer) that is bought by Microsoft by last year. And as a confirmation of this evolutionary change in the history of Microsoft has sent emails to its Messenger users to update or replace their current messenger with skype by using their existing accounts that got merged by introducing Skype (ver.6.0), the messenger has been malfunctioned worldwide except china.
The Redmond, Washington based technology announced in November that they have merged their messenger with skype.
Skype is a multi featured based applet that includes many attractive features like video calling free (for everyone who you know and is on skype), it includes instant messaging, and world wide calling at a very cheaper rate by using a simple web based voice over internet protocol technology by simply using micro phone webcam head phones and speaker phones as well. It was firstly found by Estonians Ahti Heinla, Priit Kasesalu, and Jaan Tallinn and later on May 11 2003 it was bought by Microsoft as an alternate to the messenger.
This applet also is more convenient as it has support for smart phones, computers and many other latest appliances. Skype is embed in many sources,?Facebook?is one of the biggest user of?Skype?which provide a video calling function to?Facebook?making it more competitive and effective.
Further, Microsoft bought this featured application for $8.5 Billion in 2011.

5 best pieces of advice for DIY businesses | DIY Business Association

From pie-in-the-sky to tactical and technical, I?m a sucker for all kinds of inspirational entrepreneurial advice for solopreneurs. Here?s what?s resonated with me lately.
1. Figure out how to make money and get help.
I learned a lot from interviewing Laurel Touby (@laureltouby), the founder of Mediabistro, for this blog post:??Laurel Touby?s Advice for Growing a Small Business.? The one-woman powerhouse sold her company for $23 million in 2007 and now works as an adviser for a number of tech startups. Here are two pieces of Laurel?s advice that are critical for DIY businesses growth:
Raise money. Laurel?says women and creative small businesses tend to be charitable and volunteer-spirited?admirable personality traits for sure?but they need to balance their big hearts with financial strategy. They tend not to monetize their ideas to their full capacity nor seek out investment capital, she says. ?Unfortunately, they end up being small as a result.?
The solution? Raise money to grow. Whether you go the crowdfunding route (Kickstarter, IndieGoGo, etc.), a small-business loan from an organization like ACCION or funding from angels or venture capitalists, startup funding will allow you to grow beyond a one-person operation.
Hire employees. If you design physical products?such as furniture or jewelry?Laurel recommends securing capital in order to get a workshop and workers. ?You shouldn?t make every piece by hand,? Touby says. ?Oversee a studio that can make your design?in that way, you can go faster than producing one piece at a time.?
2. Accept that 80% is good enough.
?Perfection isn?t the key to success. Learn to accept 80 percent as good enough, and don?t sweat the small stuff,? writes Ilya Pozin in this post. The serial entrepreneur and Inc.com columnist says the last 20 percent can take forever, so don?t get hung up on perfection.
Pozin also recommends keeping tasks focused. ?Founders should focus on personally working on tasks that have the biggest impact on growth. Delegate everything else,? he writes. ?Stay focused so your company growth isn?t stunted.?
3. Adapt and evolve.
If anyone knows how to adapt and thrive in a climate of constant change, it?s Corey Takahashi (@takalabtime). He started his career as a newspaperman in the late 1990s, which led to editing and contributing to various magazines and sites, including Entertainment Weekly, Vibe and??the New York Times.
Identifying early on that multimedia was the future of journalism, he honed his skills as an audio storyteller and has covered some of the world?s most interesting people for Public Radio International, NPR and London?s Monocle. He now works as an assistant professor at the crossroads of media, technology and new storytelling at Syracuse University?s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, encouraging students to prepare for how people will communicate five years from now.
?The ability to adapt to change probably will be the single biggest factor determining the careers of young people entering creative or knowledge-based fields,? Corey says. ?That?s because these industries are going to change, then change again, then again?especially as they begin to intersect more with new technology.?

4. Learn from your mistakes and move on.
In a thoughtful email to Etsy employees in January 2013 (I work for Etsy?s Seller Handbook blog by day), Etsy CEO Chad Dickerson (@chaddickerson)?shared this quote from from Ralph Waldo Emerson: ?Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.?
5. Learn by doing.
Sure, you can learn a ton about business by reading business books or getting an MBA. But you can learn even more by actually running a business. As a women?s studies and journalism major in college, I learned everything I needed to know about operating a magazine by founding one at age 19 and selling the business a decade later.
I?ve begun the entrepreneurial process all over again with DIY Business Association?this company is a whole different animal, and I learn something new every day. I haven?t cracked the code yet, but I know I?ll eventually get there if I don?t quit.
?The only thing that prepares you to run a company is running a company,? writes venture capitalist Ben Horowitz in ?What?s The Most Difficult CEO Skill? Managing Your Own Psychology.??In the blog post, Ben shows how CEOs don?t necessarily need to know everything there is to know about running a business, but they do need to master the art of not freaking out.

Ravens beat NFL Broncos in overtime
Baltimore has taken a 38-35 NFL playoff win over Denver while San Francisco downed Green Bay.

Baltimore's Justin Tucker has booted a 47-yard field goal to give the Ravens a 38-35 NFL playoff win over Denver while San Francisco downed Green Bay.
The improbable victory means Baltimore veteran Ray Lewis, who says he'll retire at the end of the season, isn't done yet.
The Ravens' triumph brought quarterback great Peyton Manning's first season in Denver to a disappointing close.
The Ravens advanced to the American Conference (AFC) championship game, where they'll face either New England or Houston for a berth in the Super Bowl. The NFL championship spectacular will be played in New Orleans on February 3.
The San Francisco 49ers advanced to the National Conference (NFC) championship game with a 45-31 victory over the Green Bay Packers.
San Francisco signal-caller Colin Kaepernick set an NFL rushing record for a quarterback with 181 yards and two scores. He also threw for 263 yards and two touchdowns - both to Michael Crabtree.
The 49ers next play the winner of Sunday's game between NFC top seeds Atlanta and Seattle.
Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw for 257 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.
In Denver, Tucker's deciding field goal came four plays after the Ravens' Corey Graham intercepted Manning in Broncos territory for the second time of the game.
Baltimore quarterback Joe Flacco had connected with Jacoby Jones on a 70-yard touchdown pass with just 31 seconds left in regulation to tie the score at 35-35 and force overtime.
Flacco also hit Torrey Smith for a pair of touchdowns earlier in the game, finishing with 331 passing yards.
Ray Rice contributed 131 rushing yards and a touchdown.
'It was pretty incredible,' Flacco said. 'We overcame some things today and we fought until the very end.'
Manning entered the matchup having beaten the Ravens nine consecutive times - including a pair of post-season contests - during his long tenure with Indianapolis. He threw for 290 yards and three touchdowns and the two interceptions.
The Broncos, who had won their last 11 regular-season games to claim the top seed in the AFC and a first-round bye, endured their first playoff loss at home since 1996.
Speedster Trindon Holliday delivered a stand-out performance in the defeat, returning both a punt and a kickoff for Denver touchdowns and establishing an NFL playoff record for the longest return for each.
'Unless you're hoisting that Lombardi Trophy at the end, it's disappointing,' said Broncos head coach John Fox. 'We had plenty of opportunities in this game, we just came up short.'

Haiti quietly marks quake's 3rd anniversary
PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) ? President Michel Martelly urged Haitians to recall the tens of thousands of people who lost their lives in a devastating earthquake three years ago, marking the disaster's anniversary Saturday with a simple ceremony.
Former U.S. president Bill Clinton joined Martelly later in the day for a similarly quiet wreath-laying commemoration.
"Haitian people, hand in hand, we remember what has gone," Martelly said in the morning as a gigantic Haitian flag flew at half-staff before him on the front lawn of the former National Palace, a pile of tangled steel reinforcement bars nearby. "Hand in hand, we're remembering, we're remembering Jan. 12."
Martelly thanked other countries and international organizations for their help since the Jan. 12, 2010, disaster.
Clad in black, several dozen senior government officials gathered where the opulent white palace stood before it collapsed in the temblor and was later demolished. Foreign diplomats and Czech supermodel Petra Nemcova, earlier named by Martelly as one of Haiti's goodwill ambassadors, were also there.
In the speech, Martelly announced a government contest seeking designs for a monument to honor those who died in the quake. He also said the government had just released a new construction code aimed at ensuring new buildings are seismically resistant in hopes of preventing the same kind of catastrophic damage in any future earthquake.
In the late morning, Clinton, the U.N. special envoy to Haiti, joined Martelly and Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe in placing a wreath at a mass burial site north of the capital of Port-au-Prince. None of the three spoke at the event.
Clinton expressed hope about Haiti's future in brief comments to reporters after the ceremony.
"I think that you will see, particularly in the economic sphere, a lot more in the coming year, where Haiti is projected to have the highest growth rate in the Caribbean," he said. "Well, we hope to speed up some of the infrastructure.? We have to repair the agriculture and ... build a lot more houses. We've got to get those people out of those tents."
Clinton, Martelly and Lamothe met privately in the afternoon.
Haiti's previous presidential administration said 316,000 people were killed but no one really knows how many died. The disaster displaced more than a million others.
Most of the rubble created by the quake has since been carted away but more than 350,000 people still live in grim displacement camps.
Many people had hoped the reconstruction effort would have made more headway by now, but progress has been stymied by political paralysis, the scale of devastation and a trickle of aid.
Jan. 12 was observed as a national holiday the last two years to remember the quake. This year, the government said the day would no longer be a holiday but called for the Haitian flag to be flown at half-staff and for nightclubs and "similar establishments" to close.
The anniversary this year has been used by Haiti observers to criticize the reconstruction process and by foreign aid groups to promote their work and raise money. The European Union announced Saturday it was giving Haiti 30.5 million euros for displaced people still living in camps, as well as victims of a subsequent cholera epidemic and those affected by Hurricane Sandy late last year.
But for some Haitians, it was just another day.
"We can't remain focused on January 12th," said Asaie St. Louis, a 56-year-old teacher and devout church-goer, Bible in hand. "It's passed already."
